How does advertising influence consumption?

The companies that speed out their advertisement absolutely know what people needs are (Maybe just about their product) and they also know that people just want to serve their needs, they often buy things without thinking. The first and only one important reason that they produced the products is their incomes by selling products. Also there are a lot of competitions between many companies that are producing the same products. I think those are the three basic reasons make they paid a lots money in their advertisement to try to say the goods about their things to people, to try to show that their things could serve people's needs to make people buy them. When people see those advertisements, not only the consumers want to buy them, but also the supermarket, the market or the shop want to buy them to sell because that bring the profits to them when people buy the products in the supermarket, ect.

Do you think citizens are sufficiently informed about the sustainability of our consumption habits? If not, how can we become more informed about sustainability issues?

I think that's not really don't, some people often think about things that they bought and going to buy but almost don't. Like what we already knew, advertisements always tell us the goods of the products. They didn't tell us about the harms, the damages come from those products. As we know people's habits are buy the things that went through the advertisements are in everywhere, some products that they didn't see by advertising, they didn't buy them because they think those products are not good. Almost things that people already knew and bought come from advertisement. Advertisements, that's right, that's why people rarely know all the information of the products and they just want to serve their needs, they don't care about the harms the products will bring to the environment so they don't need to get all the information include the bad. If we want to informed more, first is the advertisement need to show the opposite, the bad impacting to the environment and people. Or we want to buy something we can get to the internet to search for more information about them. Or the simple way is think about them. 

Do you think these advertising techniques influence what you and your friends purchase?

Advertisements always beat our weaknesses of looking or materials. Because we are girls so the advertisements about perfume, jewel, clothes are always interesting us. Like others people, I rarely things about the opposite sides of these things, I just know I shouldn't look at myself in the mirror with these things to much and forget studying. But I don't think advertise and buy these products cause many things because we don't usually waste our jewels and clothes.

My mom is a doctor. She studied at medical college in Ho Chi Minh city. Before that, she lived in Ca Mau, it is a small city of Vietnam, then she moved to Ho Chi Minh to study. She migrated because in Ca Mau there was no college and in Ho Chi Minh there was a better life for mom. It was a pull factor made mom moved. We call this is internal migration.  My mom moved within the country because at the time she was studying university, her family was still very poor. She would need a lot of money to study in another country. And also, she didn’t know foreign language so it would be the huge problems. And the last simple reason is she wants to visit her hometown more often. If she moved without her country, it would be hard.

Not only my mom, there are also many people immigrated because of their towns didn’t have a lot of kind of colleges such as medical or law colleges. That could be the reason to make the urbanization. About her, when she moved here, because she came from the town so her classmates who lived in the city dislike her. It was the negative effect to herself. And the positive effects were she followed medicine, she needed some large hospital to practice her skills. And in the city, an area that she could communicate and exchange was larger than her hometown. She thought that it could be a motivation in the future to lead her to become confident to interact with her patients after her graduation. And in the city, she also had good conditions to read more books and to study well. But the city is also very crowed and noisy. It is very complicated and many society’s traps that she needed to face with.

Message from mother nature?

1. The main idea is about the damages and real world example of global warming.

• Dispute: The conversation that people have a gainsay
• Vulnerable: Means we can oppose, like assailable.

• Climate: The weather of a specific area.

• Torrential monsoon rains in Pakistan, cause flooding in decades and killing more than 1500 peoples and uprooting millions.

• In Russia, a record-breaking heat wave along with a drought destroyed millions of acres of wheat and killed dozens.

• At the US, flooding battered New England, Tennessee,  Arkansas and Oklahoma, while record-breaking heat wave baked the entire eastern part of country.

6. Perception: Means to realize, to recognize, to understand, to conceive.

7.  For me, it's terrible. It may make us can not live in the Earth in the future. Because it will be too hot, plants can not live, animals will be extinct. But i think that's not all our fault. Why? Because people use fossil flues to serve our life. And we can not stop breathe, but when we breathe we released carbon dioxide, so it's necessary. How about vehicles ? Gas is useful and make your vehicles work well. You may say that we can use sunlight energy for vehicles but, how about the poor country? Can they buy it? So they use gas. The important thing that how much we use it and have some ways to fix it such as turn off the lights if we don't need to use.

Welcome to my imaginary Food and Drinks land. My world has three countries: FRUITS, MILK and COOKIES. Begin with Milk, there are many river here. Some big river are Milk.R, Coca-cola.R, Medicine.R and Juice.R. Milk river is the biggest river in the country. It is made of fresh milk and also many cows live there. One of the most important river is Medicine river. It can cure all of the diseases of human and animals. Juice river is very interesting too. After the meal, everybody can go to the Juice.R and drink juice. If they want to drink which kind, they would say the name of the juice they like and they can drink it also. In 2111 Coca-cola river was digged to satisfy the requirement of the people who live in Milk land. Go next to Fruits land, this land grow many kind of fruits. The popular fruits are apple, banana, grape, strawberry, watermelon. And the final land is Cookies land. In Cookies land, mountains are made of ice-cream and pie. Trees are made of cookies. They also created their own language calls "Cookimese". All is the theme of my work.

Story:

Food and drink is happy like a fairy world. Before, the world just had two countries were Fruits and Milk. In 2010, one guy of the Fruit land adventured around his world and found the new land. He's Cookie so the land was found by him would have his name, Cookies land. After Cookie found the land, many people moved to there to live. They very liked their new land because they can eat ice-cream and pies, their old home didn't have any ice-cream or pies. The Food and drink milk became the fantastic world but one day, war broke out between Fruit and Milk. King of Fruit said that the Juice.R was belong to him because the river must used fruit to made the juice but there were no fruit in the Milk land. The war stopped at 2079 and the Fruit land had haft of the Juice.R. Fruit land found the new seed and named it is Strawberry. They grown it in the middle of the land but that area, there were many hot rain so Strawberry couldn't grow up and then became the bad seeds. Some people brought ideas to another place and hoped the Strawberries could fastly grow up and gave them the good fruit. At that time, people ate the bad strawberries and then had the disease. And many of them moved to the area had the Medicine.R to cure their disease. In 2100, Fruit expanded commercial with Cookies. People in Cookies gave people in Fruit ice-cream, pies, and cookies. Then the people of Fruit land would give them the fruit. In 2111, Coca-cola.R was digged like the introduction I have said. At the year 2150, In the Cookies land had the volcano forced. The chocolate ice-cream melted, it didn't kill anybody but people didn't want to live near the volcano because they wouldn't want to get fat. One day, fast food appeared. People very like it 'cause it was strange and delicious. From the time the Cookies land created, the country didn't have any leader. In 3000, they election to the queen of them.

What I have learned about myself/culture/or someone else ?

Because of the project, I can learn many things about me when I was young, my family, my country and something about my friends.

Vietnam is a beautiful country and has many special things. It has 3 regions: North, Mid and South. My family is from the South. And I love Vietnamese food so much because it very delicious and copious. From the North, my favorite food is Com. From the Mid I love almost all of food (For ex: Bun Bo, Cha, Banh Nam,...). And the South is Banh Beo, Banh Xeo,... In Tet we have Banh Chung, it's a square glutinous rice cake (filled with green bean paste and fat pork) and Banh Tet is the same but it has a different shape from Banh Chung. Let's talk about the clothes, here are some traditional clothes of Vietnam: Ao Dai, Ao Tu Than, Ao Ba Ba, when the women wear them, they will make the women more pretty. At the local school we can stay at home in some traditional holidays of Vietnam.

In class, some friends that come from other country such as Minami and Kristine. I knew something about American and Japanese. Such as I knew how to say "hello" in Japanese. It's kon'nichiwa. And knew where are their countries on the map. From my family side, my mom told me about my grandfather at both sides when they went to war. She told me about her dad's gone when she were a little baby and her mom become mad when her mom lost my grandfather. That is one of many reasons make me hate war. And she told me that when she born me, Vietnam don't allow the people who work for state to born more than 2 children. I have 2 brothers. That means I'm the 3rd. She born me and the hospital where she worked punished her. The punishment was my mom must work for the hospital for 5 years and didn't receive one's salary. But mom hoped to get one baby girl so she accepted that punishment :) I know my family love me a lots and I love them too. I also love my home land is Vietnam. ♥

Ha Long bay - The place that I have visitted :]

My parents, who are very busy so we don’t have time to travel much. I think the most beautiful place that I have visited is Ha Long bay. It’s located in Quang Ninh in the north of Vietnam and including 1,960 islets, most of which are limestone. Here are some pictures of them:

  Its name is Trong-Mai (Chicken and hen) islet. You can see it looks like a chicken , right?

 Is it wonderful? The water is very blue and has no rubbish.

 How does it look ? I think it's fantastic, three sides of it are covered by the limestone.

 Some of them have some very interesting names. Their names have a connection with their shapes. Ha Long bay is really beautiful you know, it’s a UNESCO World Heritage Site. The weather is very cool there and the wind flows very strong. Last time at Ha Long bay, I was standing on the tip of the ship, the wind flowed and I was going to fall down to the sea.

People at Ha Long bay catch fishes and sell on the small boats. Everyone do that so it become a village calls The Village of Casting-net. They not only sell fishes but also the fruits too. Their house are boats and their father land is Ha Long bay. This generation succeed next generation were born in the sea. They are miserable but diligent and love each other. They speak Quang Ngai voice, in Vietnam, that voice can sing nationality songs very wonderful. All things I know about Ha Long I said. Thank for reading my post :)

Hi everyone, My name is Zou. I know that's difficult to say my name but i think this name is very interesting. I am a new student in AIS. The first day I went to school I was very nervous. Some of students were not very friendly but some were very nice to me. AIS is very different from my old school so i need to change a lot. I am not very good at English (I think so), I need to practice more and I hope you to sympathize when I have some problems with my English or in everything.
