January 11th homework - Harrison Bergeron

Life in Vietnam would be perfect if everyone were totally equal. Do you agree or disagree?
I disagree with this. If everyone were equal so nothing be special. Each person should be special to others to make our society be more copious. I think life should have competitions between many things to make ourselves be more perfect (because when we compete with others, we always show the best of us). Someone have talents will think, find out and invent many new things that make our country develops. Without these new ideas, our country will stuck backward. And which country that stuck backward the world's thinking, can not be a perfect country with perfect  citizen's life.

You are designing a society in which everyone is equal. What are the laws?
1. About materials, everyone must be equal such as no house is more expensive than any houses.
2. Nobody's outfit looks better than the others.
3. Short brown hair cut.
4. Everyone must pay the same tax
5. Everyone must follow the laws without exception. (Include the government)

What would you do to help people who were less capable mentally, physically, or socially to “catch up”?
The first I should respect them-the people who were less capable mentally, physically, or socially to “catch up”.
For the people who were less capable about mentally problems,  I think I could explain something for them for many times without getting angry. Tell or teach them something by another way-more easier to understand.
For the people who were less capable about physically problems, maybe I could help them to do something those are hard with them.
For the people who were less capable about socially problems, if I can say something for them to getting something for them I would.
I was too young and have not enough talent to invent machines and drugs to help them so I just do something simple like this.

What problems can you foresee that might come in a society with laws that force “equality for all”? How would you handle those problems?
I think everything is going to be in chaos and some people will stand up and start the revolutions such as Harrison. For me, I would do whatever I can help other people to show their talents without anybody know except for me and the people I help.

Do you believe that total equality is possible, or would human nature make sure that some people would eventually dominate others?
I don’t think that total equality is possible because everything is different. Nothing is the same as anything. Someone is good at this, someone is good at that. Everybody do things by their own ways and in this world, completion happens a lots so people just want to be the best and special. Total equality is impossible.

In what situations have you felt similarly to any of the characters? What persons, places, or ideas from your own experience came to mind while you were reading this story? Try to list as least two examples.
1.While I was reading the story I was imaging about the tortures of French colonialism for the Vietnamese heroes when Vietnam was in the war with France. The French tried to limit our  people who followed revolutions.
2.The situation when Diana Moon Glampers shut two talent people is nearly the same as the situation when I was in grade 4. I was a class leader, the teacher told me to control the class but one day, my classmates were naughty and mess up the classroom like crazy. I just want to have a gun to shot them K.
3. The situation that the people who were limited their talents. Make me think about some people in Vietnam that have talent but they can’t show theirs and can’t expand their talent (use their talents to make their lives, Vietnam be better and develop)
